DeltaBoard; quality, compliance, accreditation

DeltaBoard, a high-performance insulated tile backer board, is manufactured from high-density extruded polystyrene. The rigid insulating core is coated with a specially formulated, reinforced cementitious coating that provides a hard-wearing robust surface, perfect for the application of tiles/plaster and synthetic render.

The foam core has excellent thermal insulation properties, whilst also providing high compressive strength with very low weight. The cement-based coating enhances the fire-resistant properties, creates a tile-ready surface, and gives the product excellent impact resistance, ensuring that the boards stand up to the rigor of site environments.

DeltaBoard Insulated Tile backer board is used extensively within the construction industry for a wide range of applications such as insulating beneath electrical underfloor heating, as waterproof walls and floorboards for the creation of wetrooms and steam rooms, also for external or damp environments such as basements, garages, and conservatories. DeltaBoard Tilebacker Boards provide an effective thermal and moisture barrier, as well as providing an excellent surface ready to receive a final decorative finish such as tiles/plaster or flexible render systems.

DeltaBoard can be used to construct simple items, such as washstands, tileable shower enclosures, and tileable bath panels, or more complex structures such as steam rooms and spa structures, without the need for timber frameworks or blockwork.

DeltaBoard - Key Factors Assessed

Performance in relation to fire — the boards are classified as Class E in accordance with BS EN 13501-1 : 2007
and their use is restricted in some cases (see section 6).
Impact resistance — tiled boards will resist the effects of the normal impacts expected in service (see section 7).
Floor loading — the boards are satisfactory for use in domestic and residential applications (see section 8).
Condensation risk — use of the boards will reduce the risk of condensation (see section 9).
Durability — under normal conditions, the boards will have a service life commensurate with
the structure in which they are installed (see section 14).

This Agrément Certificate Product Sheet(1) relates to PCS Delta Boards, a range of extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam boards finished on both sides with a polymer-modified mortar facing, reinforced with a glass fibre mesh.
